Kitchen Update

 Ugh, that horrible kitchen. If you missed it in my home tour then check out the post now. You'll get the chance to see the horrible kitchen I keep ranting about!

A kitchen needing some serious TLC! So I figured I could sort something out to try and take it from drab to fab! Anyway, if you'll remember from my old blog, I had a go at restoring an old table and chairs (turned out great by the way...they'll be making an appearance soon). I got the idea from doing that project that I could paint the cabinets in the kitchen rather than replacing them completely. I am on a budget after all!

Well, at least as a temporary measure.

Anyway, I did a bit of research – TOP TIP; there are some brilliant Facebook groups for budget home DIY, the people on there are always so helpful! I'll leave links to some of the groups I use at the end of this post.

Here's the final result – sorry for the messy kitchen but I finally finished around midnight that night!

The paint in from wilko – their own brand cupboard paint, £12.95 per tin, the colour of this one is Ivory. It is a very off white. I didn't notice until I opened the cupboard door and the doors on the inside were such a different colour to the outside... just worth thinking about – you may want to paint the insides if you want to truly finish off the look.

I bought three tins of paint and only used two and a bit. That's with two coats of paint AND (bonus project) I also painted a bed frame I bought from a friend;

So, what do you think? Starting to look a little better yet?

xoxo

  1. Im impressed, I must say. Actually rarely can i encounter a weblog thats both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail about the head. Your notion is outstanding; the problem is an issue that insufficient folks are speaking intelligently about. Im delighted that we found this in my look for some thing about it.
