Get to Know Me in 15 Questions

Woah there! Sorry to everyone reading Enchant and Enjoy and wondering who the heck I am - I completley forgot to do a proper introduction so you can all get to know me a little better. I don't think even my 'Start Here' page can truly justify what Enchant and Enjoy is going to be (or my plans for it anyway) right now... so I thought I'd try and answer a few questions so you can really get an understand of who I am.

  1. So, Who are you again...? I'm Holly!
  2. Where do you live? I live just outside of Sheffield, England. I get the best of both worlds living with a city on one side and the stunning countryside on the other and I'm definatley a small town girl at heart.
  3. When's Birthday? 7th December. I fully expect lots of gifts! Just kidding.
  4. Star Sign? Sagittarius - so, I just had to look up the personality traits of Saggi's as I don't really know much about star signs, but the ones I found and that I can relate the most to are; big dreams, honest, independent, restless and impatient.
  5. Is this your full-time work? Absolutely not. This is probably going to be my biggest hobby if nothing else. I use my blog as somewhere I can come and chill out. My real job is as a recruitment administrator!
  6. Any other hobbies? I guess my dog, Bailey, is my main hobby. Not that I would describe him as a hobby because there are lots of things that HAVE to be done, but I enjoy doing them...does that even make sense?! I also like to hang around with friends and I'm big into TV series and films when I have the time. I would like to do a lot more outdoorsy things though as I probably spend far too much time inside.
  7. Do you have a favourite food or drink? Food is always such a hard one, I'm a picky eater but I still like LOADS of stuff. I'll go with lasagne - it's a comfort food and absolutely the recipe I would pick if there was nothing else on the menu. Drinks are a little easier; Tea as an everyday drink, Gin as an alcoholic beverage and a Hot Chocolate on a winter day.
  8. What are your favourite smells? Fresh cut grass and flowers in the spring - it's just so refreshing! I also like the smell of rain in the summer when it's been really hot, and diesel at the petrol station. If I was going to choose a candle scent it would be Vanilla (although the Yankee Candle Blueberry Cheesecake is also delicious) and the smell of fresh washing (preferably in a 'cotton' scent) is quite delightful.
  9. Favourite sports to watch? I'm not big into sports, but I have been to watch the horse trials at Chatsworth House a few times which is amazing. I love horses and used to ride so I quite enjoy watching the show jumping and cross country.
  10. What book are you reading at the moment? Reasons to Stay Alive by Matt Haig. This is something a little different from my usual books and I've only read the first few chapters so far, but it's an easy read and seems a good one - I'll have to let you know!
  11. Are there any changes you would like to make to your life? In general no. My life is good; I have a wonderful family and friendship group, a good job, my own car and soon, a house. I couldn't really ask for anything more. The things I'd like to change are things that I probably have the most control over; stopping smoking, eating healthier meals, walking Bailey more often, earning more money etc. But, there's nothing fundamentally wrong with my life!

The Blog

  1. How did you get started with Enchant and Enjoy? So I had a blog called Mellifluous. I still own the domain etc. until July, but it almost felt as if that blog was a part of my life that I'd left behind me. I wanted to start a new blog because as I moved and changed I didn't feel like I could take everything with me. Mellifluous was one of those things. Essentially I've gone through a rough patch in my life and I'm striving to change. And so, once I felt like writing again, I began brainstorming a new blog, then Enchant and Enjoy was started. I've always been a Wordpress blogger, but I can't really afford to start again with the domain, hosting etc. so thought I'd move to blogger until I have a little more disposable income and I don't think I've done a bad job customising on here so far...
  2. Why 'Enchant and Enjoy'? So, I really liked 'Mellifluous' - it means 'a beautiful sound' to put it simply. BUT, it isn't a well known word. I imagine many spelling errors have occured whilst people have been trying to find the blog and also those that do manage to find it probably wouldn't know the meaning. I blogged on there for over a year and had some successes, but when it came to reinventing it I knew I needed something much more simple. I wanted to talk about the things that really captured my imagination, that make me feel the way I did at 8 years old reading Harry Potter for the first time or waiting for the next book to come out... so I've invented a blog name that is both intriguing and describes the way I want my content to feel.
  3. Why should someone read your blog? Well, this one is tough... I want to make a connection to other people and share common interests. I want you, my reader, to be interested in the things I post and my opinions. I'd like to think that this place is somewhere I can share with you some of the things in life that I'm really enjoying in that moment, or things that I can reccomend like books, beauty bits and home furnishings. And I'd really like to think that I could inspire others.
  4. What type of posts will you write? So, back to my planning... This is going to be a Home and Lifestyle blog. I'm going to be on a strict budget as I move into my house, but there's lots that will need doing at home. Expect some DIY's, sharing of home decor hauls, paint/wallpaper comparisons and maybe some home owner tips. I'm hoping that as I'm on a budget I can also share some budget recipes and beauty/clothing hauls ('cos I am still a shopping addict). Maybe some pet tips and reviews. The trouble with a lifestyle blog is I literally want to share everything. Ultimately, it will be you, the reader, who decides what you would like me to share (so if you don't like my cooking...just let me know).
If there is anything you would like me to share in the coming months OR if you have some questions you'd like to ask me, then let me know in the comments below.

  1. Ah I loved getting to know you more, I agree lasagne is one of my favourite foods too.. and you literally cannot beat hot chocolate on a cold day! By the way I am completely in love with your blog here, well done on all your hard work with it! x
